Vol. 1

This is not a blog entry that I have looked forward to writing. Not because of the Republican defeat at the hands of Marxism, but because of the feathers in the GOP that are about to be ruffled.

Attention Country Club Republicans:

As of Nov. 4th 2008, your ideas of moving the GOP to the center are irrelevant. Your service in Party Leadership Positions is no longer needed. You can stay in the party, but sit down and shut up unless what you're about to say could be mistaken for a Reagan quote. You had your time in the sun and it has damn near destroyed everything the true conservatives worked to build.

The GOP lost it's way a number of years ago. I think when George H.W. Bush broke his “no new taxes” pledge to the American people it was the beginning. Newt Gingrich and his Contract with American held the wolves at pay for a time, but power corrupted the GOP and we became a party of barrow and spend.

To Begin Anew:

To RNC Chairman Frank Duncan – Mr. Duncan we will need your resignation by Jan 1, 2009. Please inform Deputy Chair Frank Donatelli and Co-Chair Jo Ann Davidson they will need to find new jobs as well. Victory '08 Chair Carly Fiorina please have your desk cleaned out by Thursday afternoon.

While we're at it, Mississippi Republican Party Chairman Jim Herring, you have served the state to the best of our ability for a number of years. I love you and respect you as a fine man and leader, but the time is drawing near for you to turn over the reigns of the party as well.

National Country Club Republicans:

Sen. John McCain your service to our nation has never been questioned, you are an American Hero, war veteran and senior Senator. You have served with dignity and honor. In many ways you have been true to your conservative roots in others you have damaged our party by signification measures. Your time in the sun is setting.

Gov. Mike Huckabee we well know your place in the '08 election process. Most every true conservative saw through your empty suit. A former Baptist preacher my ass. You sir are a fraud and did as much to harm the Republicans as anyone in the past election cycle. From your lowlife smear tactics against Gov. Mitt Romney to your gleeful pandering to an aging McCain in hopes for a position in his administration, your actions have been truly shameful. Your day in the sun is over.

Gov. Charlie Crist we loath you most of all. Your calculated decision to throw support behind McCain and assure his win in the GOP primary in Florida was the final nail in the coffin of the party this election cycle. Pandering for a position in the McCain administration you promised the world and delivered absolutely nothing. McCain was handed the nomination largely because of wins in New Hampshire and Florida, two states in which he was soundly defeated in the general election. Mr. Crist your day in the sun has faded.

Friends, we are taking this party back, so the Country Club Republicans can either get on the bus or get out of the way.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://commonsensefromthepineywoods.blogspot.com/2008/11/post-election-rant-vol-1.html' title='Post Election Rant. John McCain. Despite running one of the worst Presidential Campaigns since Walter Mondale, John McCain still has a glimmer of hope to pull out this election as I type this on election morning.

The Obama-Biden campaign latched onto the mantra that McCain was running for Bush's third term. I don't know about that, but I am pretty sure he was running Bob Dole's second, and less inspired campaign. I would have thought that the GOP would have learned our lesson back in 1996, when we decided that Dole would be the best choice to run against President Clinton.

In a few minutes I will post this text, walk outside climb into my gas-guzzling SUV and drive to my polling place to vote.

My vote will not be for John McCain, it will not be for Barak Obama. Nor will it be for Bob Barr or any of the other minor candidates. I'll vote for the US Constitution. I have a pocket copy of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution here on my desk. I refer to it daily. Aside from the Bible, I respect these documents more than any words that have ever been penned.

Only two of the candidates running for President have a chance of winning. Sen. John McCain or Sen. Barak Obama. One of these men respects the US Constitution at least to some degree while the other has little to no respect for the Constitution. I will vote for the Constitution by casting my ballot for John McCain.

I have also began reading the Federalist Papers, and I find the words and letters of our framers priceless, and I know they'll become even more important in the coming years.

I believe that we are going to go through a dark period in our nation for conservative freedoms. I have recently (legally) purchased a number of new firearms. I don't know that it will be allowed for all that much longer. I spend a day with my accountant in an effort to Obama Proof my small business. I don't live in a large city so I won't have to worry about the riots that are sure to take place in the next 48-72 hrs but I do have a large stock of food just in case.

Tough times are coming, even if McCain wins civil unrest will run rampant and accusations of stolen elections and riots are sure to come.

Today is a great and sad day for our nation. It's the wake-up call we need, I just pray it's not too late.

A beacon for conservatism in exile

I believe that we, as a nation, are about to enter into some perilous times. I believe that conservatism will be in exile for at least two years and possibly much longer. For the first time since the days of Woodrow Wilson, we could very well have a socialist with Marxist tendencies reside at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Sen. Barak Obama is without a doubt the crown Prince of Marxism. The most liberal senator in the history of our nation, Obama's policies dearly frighten me. He's making promises that even the biggest of dreamers could never imagine to provide. Even if Obama makes good on only a fraction of his promises we will see the greatest expansion of government entitlements in the history of mankind.

In these days I am reminded of the words of Thomas Jefferson, one of our framers and greatest minds of any time.

Jefferson said, “Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have ... The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases.”

Conservatives have already lost in this election cycle. we are left with a moderate in John McCain and Socialist-Democrat in Barak Obama.

John McCain was may dead last choice in the pool of Republican candidates, I would love to have Mitt Romney running right now. But, we have what we have because we allowed New Hampshire to select our candidate. McCain won't even win New Hampshire next week.

Is this our penitence for becoming a party of borrow and spend big government country club Republicans? Are we being punished for squandering six years of majority leadership in the House and Senate while having a Republican in the White House? It very well could be.

At this time we must rebuild the Republican Party on the foundation of Reagan.

- Traditional American Values
- A commitment to fiscal responsibility
- Free enterprise
- Limited Government
- Strong National Defense

Will the true conservatives please step up and lead this party?

Weather McCain wins or loses (a loss is likely), the GOP must return to the principals of Reagan and the conservative values that formed this nation into the greatest on earth.

I don't believe that America's best days are behind her, but I do believe that we'll have to endure a dark cloud for a period while we refocus our values on what is truly important.

We will need encouragement and a voice during the coming days. I want to encourage each of you to consider becoming a member of The Heritage Foundation.

I joined the Foundation about a year ago and believe in their missions and want to support their efforts to keep conservative values and policies alive.

Heritage is a nonpartisan think tank devoted to conservative principals and values.

The Heritage Foundation
214 Massachusetts Ave NE
Washington DC 20002-4999
ph 202.546.4400 | fax 202.546.8328
http://www.heritage.org/

Take a look at their website, and decide for you yourself. But, I believe organizations like The Heritage Foundation are a huge resource to rebuilding American Exceptionalism.

Thanks for considering
